Pokemon GO Fest 2026 Mega Finale: Mega Mewtwo, Kalos partners, and the raid map
Published August 12, 2026 · David · 11 min read
GO Fest 2026 wraps on September 5 and 6 with rotating Mega habitats, Super Mega Mewtwo X and Y, and a Kalos first partner GO Pass. Here's the raid map, the week-before plan, and what is actually worth a pass.
GO Fest 2026 is not done yet. After Tokyo, Chicago, Copenhagen, and the July global weekend, Niantic still has one more worldwide date on the calendar: Pokémon GO Fest 2026: Mega Finale, Saturday and Sunday, September 5 and 6, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. local time. No city ticket. You just log in.
The weekend is Mega Evolution from the first spin to the last raid. Rotating habitats, a pile of returning Mega Raid bosses, Super Mega Raids for Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y, and a GO Pass that locks you to Chespin, Fennekin, or Froakie for the whole week. The pass itself starts earlier, on Monday, August 31.
If you want a background Mewtwo or a Kalos partner with the event card, start the conversation on the trade feed before Saturday. Those copies move fast once people start catching them.
When it runs
| Piece | Local window |
|---|---|
| Mega Ascension (lead-up) | Monday, August 31, 10:00 a.m. to Friday, September 4, 11:59 p.m. |
| GO Pass: Mega Finale | Monday, August 31, 10:00 a.m. through Sunday, September 6 |
| Mega Finale weekend | Saturday, September 5 and Sunday, September 6, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. |
| Event raids replace seasonal raids | Monday, August 31, 12:01 a.m. to Sunday, September 6, 11:59 p.m. |
That last row matters more than the pretty logo. During that stretch, Daily Discoveries, seasonal Mega Raids, seasonal five-star raids, seasonal Shadow Raids, seasonal Raid Hours, and seasonal Spotlight Hours are off. Mega Ascension and Mega Finale raids take the gyms. Do not sit around Friday night waiting for a normal Spotlight Hour.
Live dates also sit on Events once the feed updates. Use this post for the habitat map.
Pick a Kalos partner before you raid
Branching Timed Research is how this event starts. You choose Chespin, Fennekin, or Froakie. That choice is the GO Pass path. Candy, Mega Energy, background encounters, and the Deluxe shirt all follow the one you picked.

Finish the research and you get GO Pass: Mega Finale at 10:00 a.m. local on Monday, August 31. The free track is enough Mega Energy to Mega Evolve that partner once. Deluxe is the one that piles on extra energy so you can raise its Mega Level, plus Candy XL, extra Mega Raid XP, and better shiny odds on certain encounters.
The three finals the pass is pointing at:

Pick the line you will walk. Energy on the pass is not a buffet. You can still catch all three in the wild (they spawn in every habitat), and Mega Raids plus those catches feed Mega Energy. The guaranteed energy, background encounters, and rank 100 final Evolution are locked to one choice.
Soft take, not a ranking: Greninja is the one most people will want extra copies of after the weekend. Chesnaught is the tank pick. Delphox is the Fire and Psychic line. If you already have a favorite from the Kalos games, stop overthinking it.
GO Pass ranks worth watching
Ranks go to 100, then repeat rewards up to 600. Claim what you earn. Official copy says those rewards do not sit in the pass forever.
| Rank | Free track | Deluxe track |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Link Charge cap raised to 2,000 | Higher shiny chance on your chosen partner |
| 2 | Chosen partner with a Special Background | Higher shiny chance on four-star Mega Raid bosses |
| 10 | Candy for your partner | Candy XL for your partner |
| 20 | Mega Energy | More Mega Energy |
| 40 | Another background partner | Avatar shirt for that Evolution (Chesnaught, Delphox, or Greninja) |
| 60 | More Mega Energy | More Mega Energy |
| 70 | Another background partner | Higher shiny chance on all wild encounters during Mega Finale hours |
| 100 | Final Evolution with a Special Background | A large amount of Mega Energy |
Deluxe also advertises bonus Candy, Candy XL, and XP from Mega Raids for the whole event window. Web store upgrades sometimes throw in extra items. Skip Deluxe if you only want one Mega Evolution and you are not shiny hunting. Take it if you plan to live in Mega Raids all week and you want the energy to actually level the new Mega.
Super Mega Raids: Mega Mewtwo X, then Y
This is the weekend headliner. Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y show up in Super Mega Raids at certain Gyms. Every other gym during event hours is a regular Mega Raid that follows the habitat clock.

| Day | Super Mega Raid |
|---|---|
| Saturday, September 5 | Mega Mewtwo X |
| Sunday, September 6 | Mega Mewtwo Y |
Catches from those raids can come with a Special Background. That is the copy you keep, trade, or log in Collections. Official text does not publish a background rate, so treat it like any other event card: catch more than one if the background is the point.
Remote Raids have no daily limit Saturday and Sunday. That is not free raids. You still burn Remote Raid Passes. It just means you can keep jumping into Super Mega lobbies instead of hitting the usual cap.
All Mega-Evolved Pokémon also get an extra CP boost both weekend days. If you have a Mega that covers the current habitat boss, pop it. The boost is free damage.
Saturday, September 5 habitats
Eight habitats total, four per day, each one twice. Raid bosses rotate with the wild pool. Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie are in every block.
| Hours (local) | Habitat | Wild highlights | Mega Raids |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. | Verdant Overgrowth | Scyther, Pinsir, Skiddo, Snover, Roselia | Mega Beedrill, Mega Victreebel, Mega Pinsir, Mega Abomasnow |
| 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. | Mindworks Canal | Abra, Ralts, Espurr, Clauncher, Binacle | Mega Alakazam, Mega Slowbro, Mega Starmie, Mega Medicham |
| 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. | Eerie Alley | Zorua, Litwick, Inkay, Phantump, Pumpkaboo (Medium) | Mega Gengar, Mega Houndoom, Mega Banette, Mega Malamar |
| 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. | Circuit Plaza | Mareep, Tynamo, Helioptile, Dedenne, Emolga | Mega Raichu X, Mega Ampharos, Mega Manectric |
Circuit Plaza is the short list. Three Mega bosses, not four. Plan the 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. hours around Mega Raichu X if that is a gap.
Eerie Alley is the Zorua hour. It will disguise itself. If a wild mon looks wrong, check the name before you waste a Golden Razz.
Sunday, September 6 habitats
Same shape, different types. Super Mega Raids flip to Mega Mewtwo Y.
| Hours (local) | Habitat | Wild highlights | Mega Raids |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. | Iron Frostworks | Beldum, Skarmory, Amaura, Bergmite, Drilbur | Mega Steelix, Mega Skarmory, Mega Aggron, Mega Glalie |
| 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. | Battle District | Sandile, Falinks, Pancham, Scraggy, Carvanha | Mega Sharpedo, Mega Camerupt, Mega Lopunny, Mega Falinks |
| 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. | Skyline Roosts | Dratini, Bagon, Aerodactyl, Tyrunt, Noibat | Mega Gyarados, Mega Aerodactyl, Mega Dragonite, Mega Altaria |
| 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. | Prism Promenade | Sableye, Mawile, Carbink, Furfrou (Natural), Spritzee | Mega Raichu Y, Mega Sableye, Mega Mawile, Mega Audino |
If you still need dragon candy, Skyline Roosts is the obvious walk. Iron Frostworks is Beldum plus the steel and ice megas. Prism Promenade is where Mega Raichu Y lands, plus the two fairy megas people keep forgetting they never finished.
Mega raid backgrounds
Mega Raid catches during Mega Ascension and the Finale weekend can roll a Mega Evolution themed Special Background. Official bonus on top of that: if that Pokémon is Mega Evolved, the background gets extra effects for the Mega window.
That is a collections check, not just a flex. Log the card in Collections so you know which bosses you still need a background on. Trade the extras instead of transferring them because the art looked "fine."
Niantic did not publish shiny rates. Official line is the usual "if you are lucky." Deluxe raises shiny odds on your chosen partner, on four-star Mega Raid bosses (rank 2), and on wild event-hour spawns once you hit rank 70. Treat those as paid boosts, not a guaranteed shundo plan.
Mega Ascension, August 31 to September 4
Do not wait until Saturday to start. The lead-up week is where you pick the partner, start the pass, and farm Mega Energy before the habitats start spinning.
Wild pile during Ascension: Pikachu, Bellsprout, Staryu, Dratini, Skarmory, Chespin, Fennekin, Froakie, Inkay, Falinks.
| Day | Mega Raids |
|---|---|
| Monday, August 31 | Mega Victreebel, Mega Dragonite, Mega Malamar |
| Tuesday, September 1 | Mega Falinks |
| Wednesday, September 2 | Mega Skarmory |
| Thursday, September 3 | Mega Starmie |
| Friday, September 4 | Mega Raichu X, Mega Raichu Y |
Mega Latias and Mega Latios may also show up in Mega Raids all week. Official wording is "may," so do not build a whole calendar around a guaranteed Latios hour.
Remote Raid Pass limit is 30 from Monday through Friday. Weekend removes the cap entirely. Mega Raids are most of the gyms this week. Seasonal bosses can still sneak in, but the headline rotation above is what you plan around.
What to spend passes on
- Super Mega Mewtwo X on Saturday, Mega Mewtwo Y on Sunday. Background first, IV second. One of each form is the floor. More if you trade.
- Your Kalos Mega Energy. Catch the starter in every habitat, raid when the energy is the bottleneck, and finish the free pass at least to the first Mega Evolution.
- Megas you do not have energy for yet. Starmie, Skarmory, Falinks, Raichu X, Raichu Y, Dragonite, Malamar. The Monday to Friday rotation is cleaner than chasing them through a one-hour habitat on the weekend.
- Skip megas you already sit on 999 energy for, unless you specifically want a background or a shiny. The weekend is too short to raid on autopilot.
- Do not hoard the pass rewards. Rank 100 is the background Chesnaught, Delphox, or Greninja. Claim it.
Remote unlimited sounds like a license to empty your wallet. Decide a pass budget on Friday. The gyms will still be there at 5:00 p.m.
Trade notes
This event is going to dump a lot of the same species on everyone at once. The copies that still have value after Sunday are the ones with a Special Background, the lucky trades you set up with a friend who picked a different Kalos path, and extra Mewtwo you do not want to walk.
List the background ones on Trades with the background field filled in. Put the rest in Inventory so matches have something real to look at. If you are hunting a specific Mega background, say so in the want instead of posting "any Mewtwo."
CP math for powering the keepers is on the CP tools. Raid bosses and 100% IV checks live on Raids when those pages update.
